Holy Shit. Chisato Just Upstaged Ayaya.

11 10 2008

Now, I’m not saying that Okai Chisato is a better singer than Matsuura Aya, as she’s on par with singers such as Utada Hikaru and Koda Kumi, but there can no longer be any doubt or debate about this: Okai Chisato is the best singer among the Hello! Project Kids.  I’ll even go as far as that I think the only other singer of the three main H!P groups that’s even on par with her is Takahashi Ai.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the leads (sans Maimi and Risako), but none of them could have done better than Chisato on one of the most vocally-demanding H!P songs out there.  I’ve had my doubts about her vocals in the past, but they’re all gone now.  I’m not exaggerating a bit when I say that that performance literally blew me away.  Neither Airi, Miya, nor any of the other H!P Kids (and I watched all the FC solos) were better than that.

Hey! Say! JUMP – Mayonaka no Shadow Boy

10 10 2008

Hey! Say! JUMP’s new single, the theme for Yamajimachioka’s new drama Scrap Teacher, is coming out soon.  It’s title is Mayonaka no Shadow Boy, and I have to say this is my favorite single of their so far.  It’s their first single to not be a “YAY HAPPINESS DO YOU’RE BEST YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU SET YOUR MIND TO TEEHEE” single.  Not that I mind those, because I love their past singles, but this is so much more… how should I put it… I love it when they make H!S!J sexy.

Code Blue

3 10 2008

If any of you happen to remember, I was really excited about Code Blue this summer because it has two of my favorite drama actors, Yamashita Tomohisa and Toda Erika, starring in it.  It took me a lot longer than I expected to watch this (I’ve been really busy with school and only watched about one episode every week or less), but I feel like spreading it out just added to the suspense that you’re supposed to experience when watching this.

It’s one of the better dramas that I watched, not the best, but what really caught me about this drama is (on top of it being something that I would have never watched if it weren’t for Yamapi and Erika) that it’s some of the best acting that I’ve ever seen (once again, not the best, but it’s in the top three for me).  At times the acting just blew me away.  It’s definitely not your average drama acting.

(Beware: spoilers ahead)
