KARA – “PANDORA” Review

26 08 2012

The music video for the title song of KARA’s 5th minialbum, PANDORA, has been released.  When the music video started the first time through, I thought this was going to be a really positive review, but by the end of that and definitely two watches through later… I’m not so sure.  There’s a lot that I love about “PANDORA”, but everything else… sucks.  If you haven’t seen the music video yet, I’d suggest watching it now before I rip into it.

On HwaYoung and T-ara

2 08 2012

You’ve all been informed on the T-ara scandal by now.  If not, allkpop has a great briefing on the situation.  I didn’t want to elaborate too much on this (at all, actually), but what needs to be said needs to be said.  I’ve heard a lot of different opinions on this, from complete passiveness to absolute fury.  Here’s what I think: Read the rest of this entry »

I’m YOOOUUUUURRRRRS – BEAST’s “Midnight Sun”

24 07 2012

A couple days ago, BEAST, one of my favorite Kpop boy bands, finally released their new music video, “Midnight Sun.”  Because of an unsuccessful attempt at Japan and a world tour, we haven’t seen these boys doing something interesting since “Fiction” over a year ago.  Being out of the Kpop scene for so long has clearly taken its tole on these boys.   Read the rest of this entry »

Sexy, Free & Single, I’m ready to Bingo!

3 07 2012

Super Junior’s latest single, “Sexy, Free & Single” came out a few hours ago and fangirls worldwide are freaking the fuck out.  Actually, I’m surprised at how (relatively) few views there are after almost an entire day.  There’s only 1.2 million as of right now, and it seemed as though “Mr. Simple” caught on a lot quicker.  Despite that, the comments are littered with ELF’s fangirling and everyone else hating.  It seems Super Junior is out to create a buzz once again.

All is Peachy with IU

6 05 2012

Korea’s little sister, IU, has just released a single for her upcoming album, titled “Peach.”  The full music video is not out yet (preview above), but the full audio has been released as a single!

I’ve had an off-and-on relationship with IU.  I definitely see why she’s captivated South Korea so fully.  She came onto my radar with “Marshmallow” because she performed it with BEAST’s Yoseob.  I was thoroughly unimpressed.  In fact, I hated the song.  It was obnoxious and I didn’t think she had much talent.  That was in 2009, and because she had not made an impression, I tuned her out of the next two years.  I got back into her music with Last Fantasy, which I thought was a lovely album.  Her vocals had gotten worlds better.  The lead track, “You + I” was charming, but it grew dull quickly.  As did the rest of her album.  I listened back a few singles and liked them all right, but nothing WOW’d me.

But after listening to “Peach”, IU has my full attention.

Jumping on the Bandwagon (Taetiseo – Twinkle)

30 04 2012

All the other large girl groups that are SNSD’s competition (After School, Rainbow) are making subgroups to saturate the market.  This way, instead of trying to coordinate 9 different schedules to one comeback, the companies can just pick three of them and save themselves tons of effort.  And since everyone else is doing it, so is SNSD!

Unlike Orange Caramel and it’s doppelganger Rainbow Pixie, however, SNSD broke away from the cutesy/magic sound (kind of) and decided to put their vocal powerhouses together for a unique concept.  Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun are the members of SNSD’s very first subunit.  They just released their first music video, “Twinkle!”  If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out under the cut! Doradoradoradoradoradoradora

28 04 2012

A couple days ago, my lover Kevin Kpop boy group U-Kiss released the music video for the title track of their new minialbum, “DORADORA.”  Upon watching it a few times though, I have decided that I need to add another reason to my list of reasons why to love U-Kiss: they have yet to disappoint me.
