30 Day Idol Challenge 11 ~Solo Idol~

Day eleven of the 30 Day Idol Challenge/Idol Month is who is your favorite solo idol?  This makes it hard for me to draw the line between what is an idol and what isn’t.  Ah, all of these days have been really hard for me to pinpoint exactly what the prompt is. Damn.

If you count the likes of Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki as idols, then they would probably be my favorites.  But I’m not entirely sure they count as idols?  I’ve never heard someone refer to any of the 5QUEENS as idols.  If this is members of groups who release solo singles, then my favorite is probably Song Jieun from Secret.  I would say Lee Hyori, but she’s been on hiatus too long for me to remember why I love her (hint: PLEASE MAKE A COMEBACK HYORI).

So, that leaves one other favorite solo idol.  At least I think she can still be counted as an idol.  It’s…

K-Round Up: Secret, Miryo, and B.A.P.

So we’ve gone through one month of 2012, and it’s already turning out awesome in the land of Kpop.  I’m continuing to look at new artists, this time sucked it up and watched B.A.P.’s debut video, “Warrior.”  Also, Miryo (rapper of Brown Eyed Girls)’s solo debut is FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY out!  Even though it’s not technically Kpop, I sat through the entire MV for Secret’s “Kore Kurai no Sayonara” as well.  It’s in the K-round up because, well… Secret’s a Korean group.  (But last J-Round Up had a Kpop group, Tsukiki!!  To which I say, irrelevant.)   Read the rest of this entry »





TOP! Part 9 – J- and K-Idols

This was requested early last year by qwert.  Sorry it took me this long to get to it.  The ninth installment of my TOP! series (see the page above to learn more about the series) is my top 20 j- and k-idols.  Again, that’s the smallest number I could muster.  I’ll spare you of the honorable mentions, though.  In order to keep the list doable, I kept it to members of idol groups (past and present).  It was also a very hard list, so some of the ones I would have put in here had to be cut.  Also, I only put one member per group to keep the list from being all Super Junior, SHINee, SNSD, or BIG BANG.
