Jumping on the Bandwagon (Taetiseo – Twinkle)

30 04 2012

All the other large girl groups that are SNSD’s competition (After School, Rainbow) are making subgroups to saturate the market.  This way, instead of trying to coordinate 9 different schedules to one comeback, the companies can just pick three of them and save themselves tons of effort.  And since everyone else is doing it, so is SNSD!

Unlike Orange Caramel and it’s doppelganger Rainbow Pixie, however, SNSD broke away from the cutesy/magic sound (kind of) and decided to put their vocal powerhouses together for a unique concept.  Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun are the members of SNSD’s very first subunit.  They just released their first music video, “Twinkle!”  If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out under the cut! It’s here It’s here It’s HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

23 03 2012

I’ve been holding out reviewing SHINee’s new album, Sherlock, until the day the music video came out.  Today is that day.  They also made their live comeback on M! Countdown today as well.  Oh, what a glorious day.

You probably don’t know because I haven’t talked about them much on my blog, but SHINee is my favorite Kpop group.  Boys and girls included.  I just haven’t talked about them because, well, they haven’t done anything significant in over a year.  Their Japanese releases, you say?  Please, those are all a joke.  We all know that.

So the patient, dedicated Shawol I am, I waited and waited and FINALLY almost a year and a half later, THEY’RE FINALLY BACK.  And I am loving it.  Check out the music video for “Sherlock” below! Read the rest of this entry »

TOP! Part 9 – J- and K-Idols

26 01 2012

This was requested early last year by qwert.  Sorry it took me this long to get to it.  The ninth installment of my TOP! series (see the page above to learn more about the series) is my top 20 j- and k-idols.  Again, that’s the smallest number I could muster.  I’ll spare you of the honorable mentions, though.  In order to keep the list doable, I kept it to members of idol groups (past and present).  It was also a very hard list, so some of the ones I would have put in here had to be cut.  Also, I only put one member per group to keep the list from being all Super Junior, SHINee, SNSD, or BIG BANG.

Recent Releases

2 06 2010

Here’s some reviews for some of the more recent Kpop/Jpop releases:

Cabi Song by 2PM/SNSD:

SNSD’s voices are all so pretty.  They definitely outshine 2PM.  I love this song, even if it is a bit repetitive.  And God, can I get a poster of that cover?  😀

Rating: !!!!/!!!!!

Y by MBLAQ:

You can so tell Rain produces this group.  It’s like “Y” is the song that didn’t fit on Rain’s Love Song single, so he gave it to MBLAQ instead.  Haha.  There’s waaaay to much autotune on this minialbum where it’s definitely not needed.  All the tracks sound a lot alike, leaving a lot to be wanting.  The semi-ballad “One Better Day” is the only change of pace, and while I like upbeat dance tunes, it’d be nice to hear something else when I know they’re more dynamic than this.

For Real This Time

2 06 2010

I keep going on unannounced hiatuses.  I’m sorry!  This time I’m back for real.  Senior year was kind of kicking my ass and I didn’t have a life for the past couple months.  But now that’s all over and I can return to the blogging world~

I know I’ve missed a lot… so I’m not gonna try to catch up too much.  But here are a couple opinions from the last couple of months: Read the rest of this entry »
